A text message that says the recipient has the chance to win one million pesos upon registering to Noynoy Aquino Foundation has been circulating. But the public is warned. The foundation under bearing the name of the president does not actually exist. Further, the 1-million raffle is a hoax.
Secretary Dinky Soliman of the DSWD warned the public to be vigilant of text messaging scams involving a program that gives cash to poor families in exchange for keeping their kids in school. The people behind this text scam is taking advantage of the government program Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4P), a human development program that provides conditional cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly of children aged 0-14.
The beneficiaries of the 4P program are selected through National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR)—an information system that identifies who the poor people are and where they live, and were not selected through SMS registration.
If you have received the text message scam, you can report the details to Pantawid Pamilya Grievance Text Hotline-09189122813.
